The very first time when you get a tattoo, you'll find that the the ink of the tattoo is slightly slippery and slimy. Sometimes you'll even find plasma. In such a scenario, it's essential that you quickly remove the residue on the tattoo or you might end up having dried flaky skin around the tattoo.

The very first thing that you need to do is use a piece of clean paper of towel to dry your newly made tattoo. Don't try to rub too much or you might spoil the tattoo. After your skin has dried, you need to apply some ointment so that the wound heals. You might have to apply some anti-septic creams on it. Neosporin is quite good but again it's not made for tattoos, so consult a doctor for a good remedy, because you don't want to be amonst those tattoo lovers who worsen their wounds do you? There are many really good ointments in the market and cost only $10 or lesser. Ointments such as tattoo goo or h2ocean are great.

Once you get a tattoo, try not to take a shower or enter a hot tub as this seems to spoil the tattoo. You only have to wait for about 5 - 7 days which isn't much of a problem. You might find patchy skin around the tattoo but this isn't abnormal. But don't try to touch or scratch the tattoo. If you feel extremely scratchy, then go ahead and gently scratch yourself but be very careful. You'll also have to protect it from the sun's rays. It has been observed that sun's rays causes the tattoo to become lifeless and faded. To avoid this, just use a SPF50 sunscreen.
